Chance to Advance has recently created a partnership with The Girl Scouts of Suffolk County! We will be forming a troop from girls in foster care and girls who have recently been adopted. We are looking for a volunteer who would be trained to lead the troop. Volunteers will gain experience working with under served youth populations and will be able to build their resume. This troop will meet once a month for a few hours ( with potential to meet more often if leader wants)

Mission Statement

Our mission is to respond to human needs with programs and services that protect children, promote healthy families and communities, help seniors, and empower individuals to take control of their lives.

Description

Chance to Advance is a program that services foster care Youth, and those adopted. Children in foster care are at a much higher risk of incarceration, teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, lack of self-esteem, and ending up on public assistance. About 70% of youth in foster care do not complete high school. Our solution is to intervene and bring meaningful change to the lives of at-risk children by providing positive outlooks and enrichment opportunities through one-on-one mentoring and life skills workshops and activities. We are looking for mentors to spend some time with our youth for approximately a year to assist them through mentoring.

EAC Network provides a broad array of educational, vocational, counseling and criminal justice services. The organization’s 70 programs protect children, create opportunities for seniors, promote healthy families and communities, empower people through employment and education, and provide alternatives for people with substance abuse and mental health needs.Today, over 71,000 people rely on our services throughout NYC and Long Island.
