Behind the Book ( www.BehindtheBook.org ) is a non-profit literacy organization that inspires New York City public school students to love reading. Our innovative programs bring accomplished authors into high-needs pre-K-12 classrooms, where they guide students in creating their own writing projects.

To raise funds for our mission, Behind the Book’s board members, staff, and classroom coaches will be participating in the annual Generosity Brooklyn series 5K run/walk in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NYC.

Volunteers are needed to staff our table at the south side of the park, where the course starts and finishes. No experience or training needed-just enjoy being outside and greeting people.

- Sunday, April 29 th

- 7:00 - 11:00 AM (flexible end time)

- Enter the park ontoEast Drive from Prospect Park SW, tables are located across from the Peristyle

You’ll monitor the arrival of team members and check them in, distribute t-shirts, bibs, and (at the end of the race) medals, and provide encouragement and support. Generosity and Behind the Book staff will be present to assist.

Please contact volunteer@behindthebook.org if you’d like to support Behind the Book’s literacy programs during this this lively, entertaining event. We'll provide more information when you confirm.
