DiscoveryFEST Enrichment Program is seeking passionate volunteers for our Outreach Event Team! Being a member of this team means that DiscoveryFEST will update you with what events around the city we are participating in. DiscoveryFEST typically sets up 2-3 original activities for children at these events and we need help facilitating them! For this specific event, we are hosting an "Adult Recess" (but children may attend as well). The theme will be a back school night/end of summer for parents. We want to have classic recess games set up such as foursquare and hopscotch. Our volunteers will be helping coordinate these activities. They will receive free admission to the event and we are working on some volunteer incentives (such as a free drink ticket).

Mission Statement
DiscoveryFEST Enrichment Program aims to make the hours of a child’s day rich with play, learning, and discovery through afterschool enrichment, recess, and summer camp programs. The DiscoveryFEST experience draws on the celebrated culture of New Orleans where festivals are multi-day events that bring people together to experience food, music, culture, and more. DiscoveryFEST cultivates a similar type of atmosphere; an environment where young people take part daily in exciting activities and experiences that celebrate the processes of discovery, curiosity, and imagination.
Description
Through DiscoveryFEST, skilled master teachers, coaches, and artists train New Orleans youth in culinary arts, dance, music, visual arts, theater, creative writing, sports, nutrition, character education, design, and more. DiscoveryFEST provides a critical, interdisciplinary enrichment experience that nurtures students’ self-esteem, confidence, social skills, creativity, and problem-solving skills that will help them be the next generation of thinkers and doers.
