Create Now is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1996. We serve vulnerable children from birth to age 24 with our healing programs in writing, visual arts, music, performing arts, fashion, culinary arts and digital media. Kids who have been abused, neglected, homeless, on probation, incarcerated and dealing with other major challenges learn to communicate in a positive manner as they bond with role models who serve as mentors. Our workshops help them to find jobs and careers.
We also prevent abuse, violence and homelessness by providing comprehensive programs in Title 1, continuation and charter schools to low-income students who receive no arts education.
Each year, Create Now brings thousands of these "forgotten children," those who have fallen through the cracks, to concerts, plays and other cultural events at premiere venues in the region. In addition, we produce community projects in poverty-stricken neighborhoods, like arts festivals and mural programs. Our organization has directly reached more than 42,000 of the most troubled youth in Southern California during the last 21 years.
One of our alumni is a great success story since she used comedy to help her transition from an abusive childhood by finding humor in her situation.. She would like to give back to Create Now and our community by teaching a workshop to foster and homeless youth who are dealing with similar challenges. This will include producing a documentary about this project. It has the potential to make a big difference in many kids' lives.
We need help to launch a crowdfunding campaign(s) to raise the money for this project. We also have another crowdfunding campaign for a different program that we want to initiate. If you have experience raising money through crowdfunding - especially for a charity - please send your resume/bio to: email@example.com.
