Volunteers power the passion and progress of our cause. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) prides itself on a nationwide grassroots army, inspiring over one million people to take action and accelerate progress in the fight to end pancreatic cancer. With guidance from PanCAN staff, local affiliates are led by a volunteer leadership team that includes an Affiliate Chair, PurpleStride Chair, Mission Chair and November Awareness Chair. This leadership team engages other volunteers and community members through committees supporting the organization’s mission at the local level.

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month. The November Awareness Chair leads a committee of
volunteers in implementing all November Awareness efforts. The cultivation process is year-round, culminating in the month of November with specific actions. These actions include engaging and activating local systems (companies, clubs, places of worship, schools, etc.) to participate in daily activities in the month of November raising awareness of pancreatic cancer.

Responsibilities & Duties

 Actively recruit and effectively manage a volunteer November Awareness Committee.
 Lead committee through the process of:
o Identifying local systems for outreach
o Preparation for asks and officially securing systems as Champions
o Check-in with committee members on progress
o Follow up with system Champions throughout week of action and after
o Complete tracking and reporting processes
 Build relationships and engage with local systems though out the year.
 Participate in World Pancreatic Cancer Day.
 Support Media Chair to engage local media in November Awareness efforts.
 Recognize committee and system efforts for November Awareness.
 Complete and maintain Partnership Agreement with staff partner.
 Complete and maintain Partnership Agreement with Affiliate Chair and Committee Chairs.
 Access to a computer and the internet as well as proficient computer skills.
 Respond to inquiries within two business days.
 All volunteer positions are expected to regularly communicate with their staff partner and/or local
volunteer leader, think holistically about referrals (patient, volunteer, donor, etc) and demonstrate a
commitment to the PanCAN mission.
