Her Justice
Her Justice is a nonprofit organization that provides free legal services in family, divorce and immigration law to low-income women living in New York City. Founded in 1993, Her Justice recruits volunteer attorneys from the City's law firms to stand side-by-side with women who cannot afford to pay for a lawyer, giving them a real chance to obtain legal protections that transform their lives. We believe that all women with urgent safety and financial needs deserve legal representation.

Her Justice's Annual Photography Auction & Benefit will be held on Thursday evening, May 3, 2018.

We depend on the support of many volunteers to make the Benefit run smoothly.

We invite you to join us as an event volunteer at this year's Benefit!

There are a variety of positions available ranging from checking in guests to working with the photos. You are welcome to volunteer as an individual or with a group!

Mission Statement

Her Justice stands with women living in poverty in New York City by recruiting and mentoring volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help to address individual and systemic legal barriers.

Description

For 25 years, Her Justice has confronted the challenging needs of families in crisis by providing free legal services to low-income women and children in New York City, helping thousands of women free themselves from abusive relationships, stay in their homes and win the financial support to which they--and their children--are legally entitled.

All of our clients live in poverty and most face violence at home and threats to their children’s wellbeing, with the financial pressures of the economic recession putting even more women and children at risk for physical abuse. Unemployment and rising costs are further straining their financial stability. The legal needs of the women we serve are immediate and urgent, and theydeserve competent legal representation regardless of their ability to pay. With barely enough money for life’s basic necessities, hiring an attorney is not an option.

Our services are designed to address the unique needs of women who are victims of domestic violence. We also reach out to immigrant women who are isolated by language and cultural barriers.
