Our Mission: "To create exceptional, innovative, and adventurous theatre and educational programming that advances the national dialogue on sexual and gender identity, and challenges and entertains audiences in Chicago and beyond."

About Face Theatre is a queer theatre Company that aims to be the center for queer art; that cultivates, promotes, and produces LGBTQIA+ stories and artists; and provides a brave space and creative outlet for LGBTQIA+ youth. Founded in 1995, AFT is committed to, and known for artistic excellence, and is one of the nation’s most respected theatre companies dedicated to the exploration of the human experience through the lens of gender identity and sexuality, and is a major force in Chicago theatre. AFT is also well-known for its commitment to new work and its award winning About Face Youth Theatre (AFYT).

We seek members who are passionate about our mission, who support LBGTQIA+ issues, who believe in the power of theatre, and who are motivated to serve a community. We seek collaborative members who bring joy and positivity along with professional skills, strong networks, and a readiness to raise resources and build connections. We seek leaders, creative thinkers, problem-solvers, self-starters and reliable colleagues with strong execution and follow-through tendencies. Skills of all kinds welcomed (fundraising/development, HR, strategic planning, finance, marketing, special events, NFP/arts/theatre/education/ youth sector experiences, facilities maintenance). We also care about equity and social justice. We seek members to be a part of our core "family" who are mindful of the dynamics of privilege and oppression, and who will serve AFT’s mission in alignment with our values.

Please respond to boardprospect@aboutfacetheatre.com with a brief description about your interest. Please also provide either a resume or summary of your professional background and explain how your experience and interests align with our goals and our mission.
