Strong Community Development for Literacy Success is a State funded project that addresses the pillar of a positive learning climate by increasing parent/caregiver engagement in reading activities, increasing books in homes and assisting parents/caregivers in recognizing issues the impede a child's literacy growth. To accomplish this task, the project will offer 4 sessions and give parents/caregivers 5 workshops that will give them the techniques to increase a child's literacy skills. While parents/caregivers are in there workshops, professional development volunteers will work with the children ages 3 - 8 on the developmental skills that their families are learning. As volunteers you will be able to observe and evaluate the literacy skills of the children using the project's evaluation tools.
