Mission Statement

Highland Avenue Community Church/Christian School is hosting the World Vision 6K for Water on Sunday, May 6 at 2 p.m. Why a 6K? It is the average distance that a person (normally women and children) have to walk in a developing country to collect water and it isn't even clean. By providing clean water in a village we decrease child mortality rates, children can go to school instead of collecting water, women can go to work and the economy or the whole village changes. Each registration provides lasting clean water to a child and on event day, you walk/run with that child's picture on your race bib.

Description

This is the third year that Highland Avenue Community Church/Preschool has hosted this event. Last year we had over 100 participants and raised enough money to provide clean water for 112 children. That might seem like a drop in the bucket but this is a Global event and people, churches and schools are hosting such an event all over the world. World Vision is the largest non-governmental provider of clean water in the world and because they use local talent to build and maintain the wells and clean water sites studies show that their sites last an average of 20 years.
