Running W Therapeutic Riding Center

Want to make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities? Become a volunteer. Volunteers are essential in providing assistance to our riders with the direction from our instructors or therapists - many of our participants could not ride without their volunteers! Depending on the class, riders may need two sidewalkers and a leader. Our goal is progression and independence. The time commitment is 1-1/2 hours per week at minimum.

Mission Statement

To provide a pathway to wellness and well-being that adds value to the lives of those with disabilities and challenges through the strength of the horse.

Description

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit therapeutic riding program providing equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT).

Our PATH certified instructors teach riders to guide their equine partners to start, stop, turn and walk over obstacles. Horses help people feel that they can control their situation because of the direct correlation between the action of a rider and the reaction of the horse. Riding helps empower people and enables them to be more connected on a personal level. Therapeutic Riding has been recognized for more than fifty years for its significant physical and emotional benefits for persons with emotional, social, or psychological challenges. Our additional programs include BraveHearts and Seniors & Saddles.
