ORGANIZATION: Yolo County Library - Stephens - Davis Branch Library

Position Overview:

The library is seeking creative volunteers who are passionate about the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM), and enjoy working with children. Volunteers will need to be able to problem solve and assist children in grades 3-6 during the program

Key Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Assisting staff in planning, preparing, and executing STEAM programs
  • Exemplify good safety and etiquette
  • May craft activities based on their talents and interests (ex: gardening, circuitry, robotics, architecture, etc.)
  • Set up, take down and clean up

Qualifications:
  • Creative problem solver
  • Dependable
  • Patient and friendly deposition
  • Enjoys working with children and parents
  • Must be able to lead an activity and give directions
  • Comfortable with speaking in front of large groups of children
  • Minimum age is 15; Must pass criminal background check

Training and Support Provided:

  • Orientation to the library system and youth activities
  • Staff mentorship as needed for problem solving

Time Commitment:

  • Fridays from 3:00pm - 5:30pm during the school year
