Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles is looking for volunteers to sew African fabric pillow cases and seat covers as part of our new line "NZO furnishings". And we are looking for artistic volunteers who can paint furniture and stencils on furniture.
We are part of the non-profit the African People's Education and Defense Fund and the money we raise at the store goes directly to programs for self-determination in the African community including our upcoming Uhuru Health Festival on Saturday, April 28th, 7911 MacArthur Blvd., Oakland from 11- 4pm. (Volunteers needed for this too! Interested? Let us know!)
NZO is an African word that means home and we are incorporating African culture through traditional and modern African fabrics and painted designs into the furniture pieces we sell as a way of reinforcing our mission of defending the civil and human rights of the African community as well as creating beautiful and unique, one-of-a-kind pieces for our customers!
We need people who can sew or paint! Please contact us!
