A food bank is in need of someone to like researching for good deals. The good deal is for staples the food bank needs to carry out their mission of providing nutritious food to their clients.
You would be responsible for ordering and picking up the items. Working with Food Lifeline you would be familiar with what commodities are available and what the food bank has on hand. Communicating with designated food bank volunteers you would evaluate what is needed to be purchased.
You research opportunities for 'free' fresh produce (fruit/vegetables) that offers nutrition and holds down food bank expenditures.
Due to the financial nature of the food bank 'business model' when you pick up purchased food you would use your own credit card but be quickly reimbursed by the food bank treasurer.
You are in touch with the driver coordinator to establish a driver team for each store or location.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Snohomish County matches skills/training and preferences of persons 55+ to available volunteer opportunities and promotes their voluntary service as a valuable community resource.
Description
RSVP matches personal interests, skills and lifelong experiences with non-profit public organizations at over 116 different partner agencies, including non-profits, throughout the county. Benefits of being an RSVP volunteer are: ~excess insurance coverage including Liability, Auto, and Accident. ~partial reimbursement for transporatation costs to and from volunteer stations, subject to certain regulations and limits. ~ongoing recognition and Annual Recognition Event to RSVP volunteers. The only agency tracking and reporting the volunteer activities of persons age 55 and older through the National Senior Corps, RSVP promotes retired and senior persons as viable members of the community, able to share their skills, time and experience through volunteer service.
