Healthy Together volunteers support "I Have A Dream" Foundation’s effort to expand support to other low-income students in our community. The Healthy Together program provides academic support and encourages healthy physical activity to students K-8th grade. Volunteers support students with homework, enrichment activities and physical activities like tag, hula hoop games, musical chairs, yoga, sports, etc. Monday through Thursday, from 3:45pm-5:30pm. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one day per week (high need for volunteers on Thursdays!).

The ideal volunteers are individuals who are: energetic, fun, can get kids excited and engaged about playing games and activities, can be silly and confident, and are inclusive and committed. Spanish proficiency preferred.

Mission: To empower children from low-income communities to succeed in school, college, and career by providing academic, social, and emotional support from elementary school through college, along with a post-secondary tuition assistance scholarship. Vision: Our dream is a world where all children have equal access to the educational and career opportunities that will ignite their innate potential.

Description

Since 1990, IHDF Boulder County has served more than 1,000 local youth, and currently has 12 active Dreamer Scholar Classes. The model, with its one-on-one attention and daily programming, has proven to narrow the opportunity gap. Dreamer Scholars graduate from high school, enroll in post-secondary programming, and complete their post-secondary education at much higher rates than their low-income peers.
