The Development & Events Volunteer position is an excellent opportunity to work in a professional, non-profit setting, with a goal of assisting in fundraising and creating unique and successful events. Animal Shelter Assistance Program (ASAP) is seeking someone with an interest in helping cats and kittens, though it is important to note that this volunteer position is not working in the shelter itself, and is at a nearby office.

Estimated hours:

• 4-6 hours per week
• Additional hours as needed during fundraising events

Development Support

• Adoption support
• Sponsor A Cat (SAC) program assistance:
  • Monthly: Super Sponsor Certificate printing and mailing
  • Monthly: SAC Adoption Notification Postcard printing and mailing
  • Weekly: SAC Certificate printing and mailing
  • Put SAC tags on cages at shelter
• Assist with processing of acknowledgment letters
• Promote adoption of office cat, when applicable, via Instagram account maintenance
• Monitor info@ email address and forward emails as appropriate
• Assist with stuffing/stamping/sealing for large mailing projects
• Assist with funder research and tracking
• General office support

General Event Support

ASAP holds a variety of events year round. Our largest fundraiser is Basil’s Big Bash in early June. Coming up in November is Basil’s Movie Night, and areas of support include:

• In-kind Support and Auction Pieces
  • Help secure In-kind contributions (food & beverage, auction items)
  • Maintain auction item tracking sheet
  • Help develop auction displays, when appropriate
  • Auction and raffle fulfillment
• Events Support
  • Pre-assembly of Check-In packages (prior to event day)
  • Check-In Table
  • Check Out Process
  • Set up of Silent Auction display (when appropriate)
