Become an active volunteer with the YMCA and provide tutoring in the Kansas City area! Volunteers are needed to assist and support teachers in tutoring individual and small groups of students to achieve their summer reading and writing goals.
Work directly with students to:
- Assist with reading and writing assignments
- Listen to students read aloud and check for comprehension
- Teach healthy work habits, study skills, and organizational skills
- Encourage positive perspectives on school and self
Skills: Tutoring, Youth Services, Education and Literacy, Mentoring
Good match for: 16 years of age and older
Requirements and commitment: Interview, Background Check, weekly/ monthly commitment
Cause Areas: Children, youth, education, literacy
When: November 5, 2018- May 10, 2018 Monday-Thursday
Where: Center School District at Red Bridge Elementary and Indian Creek Elementary
