ORGANIZATION: American Cancer Society

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a noncompetitive walk to help fight breast cancer and provide hope to people facing the disease. Your participation as a volunteer will support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving research, prevention, early detection, and support programs for thousands of patients and their families.

Mission & Advocacy

The Advocacy and Mission Lead’s primary responsibility is to recruit ACS CAN members and engage Making Strides participants in fighting back through advocacy and educate participants on the mission of the American Cancer Society, available programs and services, and the work the Society is doing in the fight against cancer. The Making Strides Advocacy and Mission Lead represents the American Cancer Society in the community, builds relationships, and uses their contacts, influence, and resources to further our lifesaving mission. Monthly Committee meetings on the second Wednesday of each month 6:30-7:30. 2-3 hours per week of time commitment.

Description

ACS provides patient services, education, and advocacy on cancer-related issues. In addition, the Society raises funds for cancer-related research. Fundraising events include Relay For Life, Bark for Life, and Strides Against Breast Cancer.
