ORGANIZATION: Altus Hospice of the Hills

Are you a people person? Do enjoy brightening someone's day? Can you dial a phone and take brief notes? If so you may be a perfect fit for this volunteer opportunity!

Altus Hospice is searching for a volunteer who is willing to come into the office each Thursday (at your convenience between 9-5) to help us call our patients who live at home to "tuck them in" before the weekend. We strive to give our patients the absolute best care possible, and we call each week to ask patients about any needs they may have before the weekend to ensure no one is put in a position where they are waiting for a supply or medications.

Many of our patients who live at home look forward to these weekly calls, hearing from a cheery volunteer is often a bright spot in their week!

Location:

100 N College Street, Round Rock, TX 78664, US

Mission Statement

The Mission of Altus Hospice is to provide professional care with a personal touch. We accomplish this by focusing on both the patient and their family. We will treat the disease process with medical expertise while emphasizing quality living, not only physically, but also psychosocially, emotionally and spiritually. Comfort, compassion and calming presence are the gifts we bring to this service, and we are honored to walk with the patient and loved ones through this special time.

Description

Altus has the honor and privilege to partner with patients and families as they enter into end of life care.

Hospice is a concept of caring, rather than a specific location. In hospice care, the emphasis is on palliative (comfort) care and quality of life. Every effort is made to make the patient as comfortable as possible and fulfill the distinct wishes of the patient and their family. There is practical, emotional, and spiritual support available for all involved.
