We are looking for 6-8 Volunteers to help harvest, clean and pack 750 lettuce heads at Sweetwater Organic Community Farm.
This lettuce will be used for Meals on Wheels of Tampa's April Produce On Wheels (POW!) delivery to seniors and homebound recipients.
Volunteers will meet at the Children's Home location at 10907 Memorial Hwy, Tampa, FL 33615 (behind the Helen A Davis Elementary School) and will receive training on lettuce harvesting before beginning. Volunteers will then assist in bringing the lettuce back to the Sweetwater Farm location at 6942 W Comanche Ave, Tampa, FL 33634 for cleaning, packing and weighing.
Sweetwater will be sending you home with a freshly harvested head of lettuce for you to enjoy at home as a thank you for your hard work.
Be prepared to get a little dirt under your fingernails. Event is rain or shine.
Time commitment is 8:30am-12:00pm (3.5 hours).
