We launch our 4th summer reading and math club on July 9th and it will end on August 23rd, Mondays thru Thursdays and we need volunteers. During this event we will have a reading and math club for children that will include reading and math as well as lunch. Their will also be a leadership class taught by Boosterthon for the kids the last 2 weeks of the class, a fun run at the end of the program and graduation ceremony.
The club is organized and led by a certified teacher and all services are free. The club is 930 -1030 reading and 1030 -1130 designated for math projects and games. lunch is 1130-1230. Lunch is optional and up to the parents. The children can also have their siblings join them for a free lunch daily.
Our objective is to promote reading and math as a lifelong activity, as a fun activity. We don't want children just to read and count, we want them to love to read and use math. We also develop their math skills with fun games. A healthy lunch will also be provided on site for free everyday.
We are looking for a team leader to be in charge of the math portion of this summer club. Key responsibilities would include to play math games and other math projects to keep the children interested and gain the joy of math. You would also provide leadership to your team members and bring your ideas.
The program runs Monday thru Thursdays starting July 9th and ending August 23rd. You can pick the days you are available, some volunteers do the entire program and others have specific availability. A CORI and SORI check is required, it is free to you. There will be a required two hour training required on Saturday July 7th to go over safety, curriculum and the lunch program. If you cannot make that date, we can train you when you come in.
Contact us if you are interested in this great opportunity. It can be done as an internship and/or for school credit if you need.
A child who reads becomes an adult who thinks. A healthy mind needs a healthy body.
