Need a workout? Be a ROMP! Retriever! Bring dogs from their kennels to the play yards and back again. It is our goal for every dog to receive out of kennel time through ROMP! - Receiving Outside Meaningful Playtime. Sign up for a 2 hour or 4 hour shift. ROMP! is held daily Tuesday-Sunday at varying times. Fill out an online Volunteer Form at www.HCFLGov.net/Pets, attend Orientation and help our dogs play!

About Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center

Location:

440 N Falkenburg Rd, Tampa, FL 33619, US

Mission Statement

Pet Resource Center Mission Statement: To be one of the top animal control shelters in the country. Pet Resource Center Volunteer Team Vision: To work collaboratively with all shelter departments to decrease pet relinquishment, increase adoptions, provide the best welfare while in our care and expand pet resources available to the community.

Description

The Pet Resource Center is the only shelter in Hillsborough County that accepts every cat and dog regardless of breed, temperament, heath conditions and circumstance. 12,000 - 18,000 pets per year pass through PRC, an average of 50 pets per day. PRC is dedicated to pet adoption and maximizing positive outcomes for the dogs and cats that come to our shelter. In addition to sheltering and providing veterinary care, we also provide animal control services, including cruelty investigations through Animal Safety & Enforcement. We collaborate and coordinate with our Pet Placement Partners to expand our reach in getting as many pets as possible into good homes through adoption, foster, and rescue. As a result of these efforts, our live release rate is 94% or higher every month. Pet Resource Center is moving into a new era where owners will be referred to available community resources if it will help them retain their pet rather than surrendering it because they have fallen on hard times. These resources may include food and or supplies from our community pet food bank or referral to low-cost medical services. In 2017 Pet Resource Center was named "Best Agency of the Year" by the Florida Animal Control Agency.
Being a Pet Resource Center Volunteer is extremely rewarding, educational and fun. You will have a significant impact on the lives of homeless pets. Socializing dogs and cats, helping adopters find their new pet and providing outreach to the community are all ways you can help save lives.
