Dear Volunteers,

The Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs is recruiting volunteers for Mayor Bowser’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration. The event features an awards ceremony, cultural performances by renowned AAPI artists, and more!


Event Details

Location: Lincoln Theatre, 1215 U St NW, Washington, DC 20009 (near U Street Metro Station on the Green and Yellow lines).

Date: Monday, May 7, 2018

Time: 7 pm to 8:30 pm

Volunteer Details

Time: 6 pm to 9 pm

General Roles: Registration, ushering, distributing program booklet, helping with backstage logistics and clean up.

*Both bilinguals and non-bilinguals are welcome.

Description

The Mayor's Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (MOAPIA) acts as a liaison between the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and the District government. MOAPIA assists constituents with accessing government services, conducts outreach to ensure that community member’s concerns are voiced and carried out, and provides materials in languages that are widely spoken in the API community. In addition, MOAPIA's subject matter liaison helps community members with more specific questions regarding economic development, education, employment, mental health, health and human services, housing, and safety issues.
