Park Beautification Day - Martial Cottle Park Martial Cottle Park Description Join us to remove unsightly and noxious vegetation from Martial Cottle Park, making the park more beautiful and allowing native and drought-tolerant plants to thrive!

We'll remove weeds by hand or with small tools. We'll be focused on landscaped areas, along park trails, fence lines, and in the demonstration orchards. We may also spread mulch to reduce weed growth around trees or bushes.

As a volunteer on Park Beautification Days, you can expect to work with fellow volunteers and park staff to achieve a shared goal, see the progress of your efforts, enjoy being active in nature, and celebrate your accomplishments!

Volunteers will learn what makes a weed a "weed," why they are problematic, how to identify common weeds in the park, and best practices for removing them.

Volunteers should wear long pants you don't mind getting dirty. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required. Bring a refillable water bottle and sun protection. Rain or mud may cancel the project.

Students welcome! Minimum volunteer age is 14, and volunteers age 14 and 15 must have a parent or legal guardian accompany them to the Park Beautification Day. All minors must have a parent or legal guardian sign the volunteer waiver before being able to participate in the project.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department is to provide, protect and preserve regional parklands for the enjoyment, education and inspiration of this and future generations.

Description
