The Trail Center is an all-volunteer organization that, on one Saturday each month, constructs and maintains hiking trails Bay Area public parks.
A couple of years ago, the Trail Center constructed a new trail, now known as the Amphitheater Trail, from the Tenderfoot Trail at Laurelwood Park up to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. Last fall, we began to construct another new trail ("Segment 3") that will transform a partial social trail from a switchback of the Amphitheater Trail to a major trail junction on the south-central side of the Park. On Earth Day, during our fourth workday here, we’ll be completing this new trail, which will include the construction of a retaining wall along part of the trail and final tread work. We will end the day with a TRAIL OPENING CELEBRATION and refreshments. Previous experience is not necessary, and the Trail Center will provide all training, tools and gloves.

The Trail Center is a non-profit volunteer organization formed in 1983 to provide and promote quality non-motorized trail opportunities for all people in San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco counties. The Trail Center works with government agencies, outdoor enthusiasts and other interested parties to create and manage an interconnected network of trails for the four-county region.
Description
