Seeking volunteer to translate documents from Spanish to English. The work can be done in the office or remotely. The current need is for translation of a client declaration and Latin American legal documents (e.g., birth certificate, etc.) for a case of a woman we are representing in the San Francisco Immigration Court. The case type is asylum. The documents to be translated will be submitted as evidence at the trial. The hours are flexible, and longevity is valued over hours per week, since we will have further need for translation services beyond this one case. Some translation experience (and specifically translation of statements, and Latin American legal documents) is strongly preferred. Although this current volunteer opening does not include any client interaction, there is a possibility to expand your role over time (e.g., to include client interaction or case preparation) depending on your interests and the needs of the agency.

Please submit a resume and brief writing sample.

In your response, please include details regarding your translation experience and interest in immigration law. Also, please include the approximate number of hours you would be able to commit per week, and when you are available to start. Finally, please note your preference for remote or in-office work. Remote work will require you to use your own personal computer.
