Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigrant Services - San Mateo is looking for one or more skilled and enthusiastic volunteer translators. A lot of the work we do required us to translate documents and declarations from Spanish into English. These translations are often essential parts of our immigration cases.
The volunteers will:
- Translate documents from Spanish into English. Documents may include: declarations, civil documents, simple legal documents.
Minimum requirements:
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Attention to detail & resourcefulness
- Comfortable using Microsoft word and email.
Time Commitment:
- Will vary and depend on needs. A staff member will contact the On-Call Translating Volunteer to assign translation and coordinate deadlines. Deadlines will usually be 48h, 36h, or a week depending on the needs and the type of documents that will be translated. Volunteer is welcome to either come to our office in San Mateo or perform the activities remotely.

Thanks to the help of volunteers and staff in 2017 we served almost 35,000 clients. 3,024 clients were served by Homelessness and Housing Services. Almost 5,000 refugee and immigrant consultations were provided and 2,332 seniors were served. In addition 25,459 youth were served in San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo.
