This year, mock interviews will be held in the AHS library on Friday, April 27th. The majority of the Amundsen High School senior class will be participating in a mock interview in order to prepare for the work world. As per usual, the students will be professionally dressed, resume ready, and expected to answer a series of general interview questions. we always attempt to pair up students with someone in a career field that they are interested in perusing, so a variety of fields are always appreciated!

This year, the majority of the time slots are in the morning and afternoon. There are two sessions. The AM session are from 8:45-11:30 and the PM session are from 12:15-3pm. Volunteers are appreciated and can choose what times work best for them. For example, if they can only interview for an hour, we can make it work. Snacks and beverages for volunteers.

In addition, we will provide a grading rubric and a list of the general interview questions that the students have prepared to answer. Additional questions and interviewing advice is always appreciated as well.

Mission Statement

To inspire and prepare young people to succeed in the global economy.

Description

Junior Achievement is the world's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. In partnership with businesses and educators, JA brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential.

Our corporate and community volunteers deliver relevant, hands-on experiences that give students from kindergarten through high school knowledge and skills in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship. JA programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and how it can be applied in the real world - enhancing the relevance of their classroom learning and increasing their understanding of the value of staying in school.

Throughout JA's sequential and integrated kindergarten through high school programs, students think critically and solve complex problems. Through our business, financial, and entrepreneurial educational programs, we prepare students to:

  • Proactively manage their finances;
  • Become entrepreneurs; and
  • Develop skills that will be recognized and valued in a global workforce.

During the 2017-2018 school year, JA of Chicago successfully reached 600,222 students of all ages, races, ethnic backgrounds and physical capabilities, including at-risk youth in twelve Chicago-area and northwestern Indiana counties.
