Serendipity Center is a non-profit therapeutic school in Portland for at-risk children in grades K-12 whose complex social-emotional needs have resulted in repeated failures in public school. Today Serendipity serves over 100 children with behavioral, psychological and learning challenges stemming from severe personal, social and family dysfunctions. Serendipity’s mission is to provide the best environment for students to heal and become educated, productive community members.
Right now there are opportunities to get involved in building the future for Serendipity and the children it serves. We’re currently recruiting for the following volunteer positions:
Board Member (~ 6 hours per month)
In this leadership role, you’ll work closely with Serendipity’s Executive Director to oversee management of strategic and high-level operational initiatives. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate a Board Committee (Finance, Capital, Marketing, and Quality Improvement) activities as well as special projects and events, and represent Serendipity to the greater Portland community.
Ambassador Board (~4 hours per month)
In this contributor role, you’ll work with Serendipity’s Executive and Development Directors, Board Members and other volunteers to design and implement initiatives to increase community awareness of Serendipity’s vital role. You’ll have the opportunity to develop and public awareness campaigns, and make connections with community leaders in building support across the Portland metro area.
