About

Do you love to talk about history? Do you enjoy talking with people? If so, then Roger Williams National Memorial needs someone just like you. We are seeking friendly front desk volunteers to greet visitors, provide information about local points of interest, and make them feel welcome.

Description of Duties: Duties may include:

  • Answers questions in front desk and exhibit area

  • Stocks brochures at front desk

  • Distributing program and other park information

  • Answers phone calls for basic park information

  • Providing directions and distributing maps

  • Represents the park throughout the park unit

  • Orients visitors to and shares significance of current location

  • Models and encourages stewardship of the park

  • Transport and setup of the park tent and various brochures, and/or activities

  • Roving volunteers will carry a park radio and rove the grounds of the park in order to greet and assist visitors as needed.

  • Maintain a log of all visitor contacts and reports

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Desired:

  • Candidates younger than sixteen will be considered on as case-by-case basis.

  • No experience needed; training and uniform provided

  • Ability to easily converse with and listen carefully to visitors and identify their needs

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills

  • Has a high level of comfort with speaking to strangers

  • Has a keen interest in the culture, history and/or natural history
