Position title: Cat Room Cleaner
Estimated hours: 7:30 - 10:00 a.m. daily. You pick the day(s) that fit your schedule.
Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
Bend down on one knee
Reach things above your head
Climb a ladder
Shorts must be at least knee length
Closed toed shoes only
Description:
Be at the shelter at 7:30 a.m.
Be aware of all cats in the open cat room and put them in the meet & greet room if needed before cleaning.
Avoid escapees whenever possible
Empty bowls and put them by the sink to be washed
Shake rugs out & change if dirty
Send washable, dirty toys; soiled beds; and rugs to be laundered
Plastic cat toys can be soaked in bleach water for cleaning & then rinse well
Remove all scratching posts and other items from the open cat room
Sweep floors
Mop floors with bleach water
Use a towel to dry the floors
Climb a ladder to clean the stairs and cat runway with bleach water
Clean the inside and outside of the cat cubes with bleach water
Empty cat litter boxes and wash them with bleach water in the dog bathing room (make sure there is no cat litter in the boxes before washing)
Make sure litter boxes are filled with scoopable litter to the line inside the litter box.
Brush off scratching posts
When bowls have been washed, refill with water and cat food and place them where they were sitting before you started cleaning.
Use "Open Cat Room" cat food only when refilling food bowls
Put cat litter boxes in a row under the window in the open cat room
Put scratching posts, toys, etc. back in the open cat room
Let the cats back into the cat room from the meet and greet room and close the door to prevent them from going back into the meet and greet room.

Founded in 1963, AWL is a non-profit organization that provides temporary home, medical services, and caring attention for countless dogs, cats, and other animals. The shelter exists solely due to the generous contributions of citizens, businesses, and the community.
We are a non-profit corporation [Sec. 501 (c) (3)] dedicated to the alleviation of pain and suffering of animals.
Our animal shelter provides safe refuge, nourishment, and love to hundreds of homeless animals each month.
The shelter accepts all animals brought in by Charlotte County residents and Animal Control. Approximately 5,000 animals are received each year
