Position title: Flea Market Booth Clerk

Estimated hours: 3.5 hours per shift with 2 shifts per day on Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays. The first shift is from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., the second shift from 12:30 - 4:00 p.m. You pick the shift(s) and day(s) that fit your schedule.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
  • Bend down on one knee
  • Reach things above your head

Description:

  • Morning volunteer:
  • The morning volunteer shift starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m.
  • The Friday morning volunteer needs to pick up the flea market bag at the shelter no later than 8:30 a.m. and take it to the flea market to be ready for business by 9:00 a.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday morning volunteers need to get the bag from the flea market office
  • All morning shifts need to:
    • Open the booths
    • Turn on the lights
    • Dust and arrange merchandise as needed
    • Wait on customers
    • Write a receipt for each transaction
    • Keep accurate count of money received from sales
  • Afternoon volunteer:
    • The afternoon volunteer shift starts at 12.30 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m.
    • The morning and afternoon volunteers review sales and the money received from sales
    • The Friday and Saturday afternoon volunteers need to turn bag and money in to flea market office for safe keeping
    • The Sunday afternoon volunteer will need to take the bag home and bring it to the shelter on Monday morning
    • All afternoon shift volunteers need to:
      • Dust and arrange merchandise as needed
      • Wait on customers
      • Write a receipt for each transaction
      • Keep accurate count on money received from sales
      • Turn off the lights
      • Lock up the booths before leaving at 4:00 p.m.

Founded in 1963, AWL is a non-profit organization that provides temporary home, medical services, and caring attention for countless dogs, cats, and other animals. The shelter exists solely due to the generous contributions of citizens, businesses, and the community.

We are a non-profit corporation [Sec. 501 (c) (3)] dedicated to the alleviation of pain and suffering of animals.

Our animal shelter provides safe refuge, nourishment, and love to hundreds of homeless animals each month.

The shelter accepts all animals brought in by Charlotte County residents and Animal Control. Approximately 5,000 animals are received each year
