Come have the Best Day at the Beach!

Looking for volunteers who want to have a safe and fun day at the beach as a Beach Buddy!

Volunteers arrive by 8am to register, get a cool t-shirt, and prepare for meeting their buddy who is a youth participant in our program for the day. Participants will have the chance to surf and boogie board with professional surfers and when not in the water, they get to play with you!

All gear and snacks provided for participants and beach buddies!

After a full morning of playtime, we have an awards ceremony to celebrate all our new participant surfers then enjoy lunch together (usually pizza because kids LOVE pizza!)

After lunch, families will take the kids home, then all of us work together to pack up the gear and we are done by 2pm at the latest.

Did you know we call ourselves Best Day because everyone, including volunteers, usually report it was their "Best Day" when they leave? Come join us!

Mission Statement

Best Day Foundation enables children with special needs to build confidence and self-esteem through safe fun, adventure activities which stretch their limits, expand their true potential and connect them with diverse populations in their community.

Description

Our programs empower local volunteers with the infrastructure, education and training to create scalable, self-sustaining programs that deliver safe outdoor experiences to children with special needs. Current activities include surfing, bodyboarding, kayaking, stand up paddling (SUP), snow sports, and more.

We serve children aged 4-24 with any physical or developmental special need including Autism, Cerbral Palsy, Down syndrome, blindness, spinal cord injuries, cancer, and more.

Our community volunteers, who are integral to each event, often say that their experience volunteering is as fun and life-changing for them as it is for the children they help.

Current Best Day chapters serve Florida, New Jersey, and California (Ventura, Orange County, San Diego, and Santa Barbara areas).

As of April, 2016 the organization has held 147 events serving more than 5,000 children with special needs with the help of thousands of community volunteers who have contributed over 94,000 hours of community service. Once you join us you will be hooked... at least that's what our volunteers keep telling us. What are you waiting for... let's get started!
