Do you have a passion for history? Love a great story? Enjoy engaging with people from all over?
Become a Tour Guide and lead an exploration of Historic Mount Hope Cemetery!

Dedicated in 1838 in Rochester, NY, Mount Hope is America's first municipal Victorian cemetery.
Set in a picturesque landscape shaped by retreating glaciers, the cemetery features more than 80 mausoleums, soaring Egyptian obelisks, winged angels of mercy, a Florentine cast-iron fountain, two stone chapels in Gothic Revival style, a Moorish gazebo, and infinitely varied tombstones marking over 350,000 graves across 196 acres.

Tour guides are an integral part of our team and engage the public by sharing the history of the cemetery and the fascinating stories of the many residents of Mount Hope on our walking tours.

Minimum requirements: 4-6 hours per month, more if you're willing! Tour guide training (classes & field walks) and independent study required.Candidates must be able to stand/walk, often on uneven/unpaved areas, for periods up 120 minutes. Minimum age 18 years.
Full training and continuing educational opportunities provided.Flexible schedules! Experience in public speaking, group engagement, storytelling, and a love of history are helpful.
