You can help a motivated student achieve their college dream. Along the way, you'll build a deeply meaningful relationship. Mentors inspire, and get inspired, in their mentoring relationships.
Partnership Scholars Program Mentors help motivated students in grades 7 - 12 from low-income communities explore the world while preparing them to become first in their families to attend and graduate from college.
It’s easy to be an amazing mentor ! By mentoring a young student, you can help them navigate through school, expose them to all kinds of new experiences and build a caring relationship that goes both ways. Mentors expose their students to new cultural experiences like going to plays, eating new kinds of food and visiting museums. You support their college goals by visiting colleges and help them stay focused on school. Mentors and students typically go one outing each month. PSP reimburses mentors for their expenses, so finances don’t have to be a barrier to becoming a mentor.
We are currently looking for mentors for students living in Lennox (near Inglewood) and El Monte.

Mission Statement
Partnership Scholars Program's mission is to provide six years of educational and cultural experiences to academically motivated, but economically disadvantaged students, starting in the 7th grade, to promote college access and a lifetime of success.
Description
We operate a single program in seven different communities around California to advance our mission. Services provided through our core Scholars Program include mentoring, educational and cultural enrichment activities and college-access guidance. Through our program we help close the education gap by offering students from underprivileged backgrounds resources and opportunities comparable to their more affluent peers.
Students are selected in the 7th grade after undergoing a rigorous application process. They are paired with highly qualified mentors who build supportive relationships with students, interacting and communicating regularly and offering guidance about school, college and life. We help students obtain additional academic tutoring and provide them with educational materials and supplies, as needed. Program services vary based on the needs of each student and their current grade level. For instance, freshmen are introduced to college readiness course requirements, while seniors receive intensive assistance with college essays and applications. Each student participates, on average, in at least five hours of academic, enrichment or college-access activities monthly.
