GVA Foundation-Africa is running and owning complete organic farm just 40 minutes drive south of Mukono town, next to Lake Victoria.

The farm is located close to the beautiful Lake Victoria and its surrounded by beautiful nature.This is a cool place to hang out with the locals as you enjoy organically grown foods and feel the nature.

Agriculture being the backbone of the Uganda's economy with over 80% of the population being directly or indirectly involved in various aspects of this sector. GVA Foundation-Africa invests a substantial amount of funding in the agriculture sector, through various projects in rural communities of Uganda.

This farm project strives to improve the livelihoods of this rural community through improved agriculture practices and technologies that are environmentally sustainable (such as organic pest management, soil and water conservation methods).

The farm is also used to teach children simple farming - like growing organic fruits and vegetables namely, tomatoes, maize, beans, cabbage, onions, carrots, pumpkins, watermelons, mangoes and passion fruits.

The children learn sustainable techniques and help seasonal work such as: planting, pruning, weeding, fencing, harvesting, building, and caring for cows, sheep, goats. The farm animals provide children with protein in form of meat, eggs and milk.

The volunteer work at the farm varies from day to day and season to season. Volunteering at the organic farm project is perfect opportunity to be of service, while gaining valuable life experiences about farming in Uganda.

Volunteers are an essential part of all operations at this farm. Their energy, spirit and willingness to work bring a refreshing quality to the farm.

The project will give you practical experience in life of a Ugandan farmer, eco-tourism, conservation, environmental education and culture beliefs.

All GVA Foundation volunteer placements include a donation to your project, the cost of your accommodation, pre-departure preparation and in-country orientation, supervision and training. It also covers the cost of food and daily transport to and from your placement location.
