LifeWorks HOME Team serves youth and young adults who are currently or at risk of experiencing homelessness. By conducting targeted outreach to youth hotspots and to those youth pulled for housing, the HOME Team is able to build rapport by providing basic needs (socks, food, etc.) and connecting youth to LifeWorks and other community resources.
As an AmeriCorps Housing Services Aide, you will get frontline experience in the community doing outreach, build engaging relationships by staffing our Youth Resource Center and weekly meals, and get one-on-one time with clients by providing case management aide and individualized services (like getting an ID, birth certificate, etc.). The ideal candidate will thrive on extreme flexibility, organization, data-entry, and rapport-building while working with a small, close team. This position also holds an extra emphasis on self-care due to the sometimes crisis-heavy nature of this work.
Most days will range between the hours or 9am-6pm (with an occasional late evening) Mon-Fri starting at LifeWorks in East Austin. There will also be occasional overnights for Cold Weather Shelters in the winter. Access to a vehicle is preferred. Driver’s License is required.
AmeriCorps member benefits include living allowance, education allowance, health insurance, student loan forbearance on qualified federal loans, and professional development and training opportunities.
This opportunity is provided by Keep Austin Housed (KAH), a project of Front Steps, which affects positive change in the lives of children, youth, and adults who are at-risk of experiencing, currently experiencing, or have formerly experienced homelessness.
