The Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge is a unique & dynamic event for students & professionals. The daytime event for high school students in Bloomington-Normal provides young people with the opportunity to experience the stock exchange firsthand. During the evening events in Bloomington-Normal and East Peoria, professionals have the opportunity to test their market savviness & enjoy a fun night with colleagues. Proceeds from this event support youth education in our community by providing kindergarten through 12th grade students with JA classroom programs that teach financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship. Don't miss this exclusive event where teams are issued $1,000,000 to buy mock stock in 26 fictitious companies. Once the opening bell is rung, the market opens & every 60 seconds is a new trading day! With the changing market and the game's high energy environment, teams are challenged to compete for the largest portfolio by the end of trading.
How Does It Work? The Stock Market Challenge is centered on a software system that simulates a 60-day cycle of the stock market and its function of buying, selling, analysis and risk. Every 60 seconds represents a day of trading. Each day brings news from the financial markets challenging teams to analyze and decide what actions they should take. The goal of each team (4-6 players) is to accumulate the highest possible net worth in their investment portfolio at the close of trading. Due to the volatile market, and the games frantic pace, teams will be pushed to the brink, as they compete to have the largest portfolio by the end of trading. The event is an evening of fun and excitement, where the stakes are high and the competition is fierce.
We need volunteers to help with this exciting event. You do not need to know about the stock market!

Description
Junior Achievement (JA) is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Junior Achievement of Central Illinois is a member of JA Worldwide and part of a global organization that operates in 123 countries and reaches 9.7 million students.
JA programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.
JA's unique approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver our curriculum while sharing their experiences with students. Embodying the heart of JA, our 384,925 classroom volunteers transform the key concepts of our lessons into a message that inspires and empowers students to believe in themselves, showing them they can make a difference in the world.
