Housing Works is powered by a vibrant community of volunteers who lend their time, dedication, and passion to many different roles within our non-profit organization.By volunteering, you are directly responsible for providing funding to and advocating for New Yorkers affected by homelessness and HIV/AIDS.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Design on a Dime 2018. We are thrilled to announce that this is our 14th annual Design on a Dime! Last year’s event was a huge success, raising over $1.2 million for homeless New Yorkers living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. The event featured the industry’s top interior designers who created unique room vignettes using items donated from over 100 furniture designers, artists, brands, and individuals. You can find out more about our event here: http://doadnyc2018.splashthat.com/
Each year, DOD depends on the hard work of hundreds of volunteers, and right now we are looking for folks that are comfortable with heavy lifting to help us load in all the awesome furniture and art to be used to create our beautiful vignettes on Tuesday, April 24th from 10 am to 2 pm. PLEASE NOTE: Although we will be providing dollys, volunteers must be lifting and comfortable working with about 40 to 50 pounds
All participating volunteers will receive a brand new Design on a Dime 2018 t-shirt along with a 25% discount card to be used during our Public Sale Days or at one of our Thrift Shops (valid for 30 days).
If you are interested in volunteering, or would like to sign up your group to volunteer please email volunteers@housingworks.org.

Mission Statement
Housing Works is a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV & AIDS. Our goal is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain our efforts.
Description
Housing Works is powered by a vibrant community of volunteers who lend their time, dedication, and passion to many different roles within our social enterprise department, Bookstore Cafe, and Thrift Shops.
Individuals and groups of volunteers assist our organization greatly, by coming together to better the communities that they live and work in. Housing Works is pleased to partner with corporations, universities, and community based groups, in the creation and implementation of volunteer projects that benefit homeless men and women living with HIV & AIDS. We are one of New York City’s largest and most successful support services for those in these under served communities, and becoming a part of the Housing Work’s family is an exciting way for companies to give back.
Each project challenges volunteers to develop new skills and engage new people, contributing to a greater sense of camaraderie. We welcome the opportunity to work with corporations to find volunteer opportunities that meet their needs and priorities. Volunteering with Housing Works is a great way for companies to engage employees while demonstrating their commitment to the fight against homelessness and AIDS, and the improvement of the lives of all at-risk New Yorkers.
