Camp Kangaroo is a free bereavement camp for children age 5-17. As a Camp Kangaroo volunteer, you will be helping us provide a camp experience and a supportive atmosphere for the children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, grandparent or significant friend. The primary goal during this weekend camp will be to provide children with the opportunity to meet other children who have lost a loved one and to share and normalize the feelings surrounding their experiences. Activities throughout the weekend will focus on memorializing their loved ones, self-care techniques, building relationships and having fun in spite of a difficult time.
Volunteers will be needed to help with set up, registration, supervising play time activities, snack and meal preparation, and clean up. We ask that Camp Kangaroo volunteers help for at least 8 hours during the weekend.
