About

DESCRIPTION: Do you speak in hashtags? Know every Instagram filter by name? Check in on Facebook more than you check your email? Then we have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you! Our Social Media Ambassadors are a team of social media-savvy advocates who commit to engaging with YWCA Dayton social media posts - and creating posts of their own - to help our messages about this year’s Stand Against Racism social justice concert and activity fair reach a wider audience. There are also opportunities for ambassadors to engage in live social media action (i.e., live Tweeting, manning @daytonbaton) the day of the event.

TRAINING: A brief conference call will be held to explain expectations, answer questions, outline upcoming social media posts and orient the volunteer to YWCA Dayton’s mission, vison and goals.

PREPARATION: Be sure to follow @ywcadayton on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube. We also have a company page on LinkedIn. You can find out more about Stand Against Racism HERE, and about YWCA Dayton’s work to empower women and advocate against barriers - including gender, race, economics, etc. -- to that empowerment HERE.

WHEN: April 2017 (advance promotion); Thursday, April 26, 2018 | 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (event)

WHERE: For advance event promotion, wherever you are! This volunteer role is performed remotely from the volunteer’s own mobile device or computer. For the day of the event, please report to Courthouse Square in Downtown Dayton. It is on the corner of North Main and West Third streets, with walk-up entrances found on West Third, North Main and West Second streets. Ample garage or on-street metered parking available; YWCA cannot reimburse for parking expenses.

IMPACT: Your effort will amplify YWCA Dayton’s messages and marketing reach, from helping promote our Stand Against Racism events to educating the public on our advocacy efforts to helping encourage contributions. The more funds we raise, and the more people we alert to our mission, the more women and children we can support. Plus, social media is a two-way street; you’ll enhance your social status, too, as YW retweets, likes and shares your posts.

PERFECT FOR: Tech-savvy individuals; young adults; busy professionals; socially-conscious helpers; communications students who want to build their portfolio.
