BSP is preparing to launch a certification program for janitors called the "Green Janitor Education Program" at a California State Department headquarters near downtown Sacramento. In this program, janitors will develop competency in sustainability efforts in the operations and maintenance of buildings. The program covers an introduction to sustainability concepts, green cleaning practices, and water and energy efficiency. The workers take two exams and are certified upon completion of the program (30 hours) and passing the examinations. The course is taught in English.

What is the volunteer opportunity?

We need 1 bilingual Greek/English volunteer to work primarily with one Greek-speaking student in class. The volunteer will guide the student through understanding concepts, translating content from English to Greek when necessary, and coordinating with the instructor to supplement learning.

Volunteer requirements include:

• Proficient in English and Greek.
• Willing to commit to 1 class session per week for 15 weeks. The class is held on Wednesdays from 9AM-11AM
• Patience, flexibility, willingness to learn!
• Optional / Ideal: Interested in sustainability concepts
