Serenity Hospice & Palliative Care is looking for Volunteers to join the Serenity Team as we provide excellent care and support to our hospice patients and their loved ones. We serve families in the Phoenix area and Valley Wide!
As a Volunteer, you can choose between many opportunities; the gift of companionship, emotional support to the patient and family, listening to music, celebrations, clerical support in the office or community outreach and events. Serenity Hospice is also a participant in the national "We Honor Veterans" program.
Volunteers are trained in their role with patients, and we are required to conduct background checks and TB testing, at no charge to all volunteers.

In addition to providing compassionate medical care and pain management, hospice care offers emotional and spiritual support to patients and their loved ones. Hospice care is provided wherever a patient resides, and it is delivered by the hospice care team- specially trained physicians, nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains and volunteers, who work together to meet the unique needs of each patient and family.
Description
The word "Hospice" means, "a place of shelter for travelers on a difficult journey."
Hospice care is a team-oriented approach to expert medical care and pain management of the patient, and emotional and spiritual support for the patient's family and friends. The patient's wishes are always considered and respected. Hospice philosophy is based on the belief that patients have the right to die with dignity and without pain, while enjoying the highest quality of life possible. The focus is not on curative measures, but rather relief of symptoms. the patient and family are encouraged to participate in planning and performing the care, to the extent that they wish to do so. The Hospice team is there to care, instruct, educate and support the family.
