Land Stewardship with Urban Neighborhood Initiatives!
Schedule a time to help us to beautify our parks and green spaces, to make a difference in the community! *UNI's staff is flexible in dates and times, just reach out to us, and we will work to set up a time good for your group*
Meet at Springdale Green, 8300 Longworth Detroit, MI 48209. We will work at one of many public, green spaces that UNI works with the community to maintain. UNI works alongside the Springwells community to steward over 20 acres of land and we need all the help we can get! The work done contributes to sustaining safe, happy, and prospering neighborhoods in Southwest Detroit.
Activities include but are not limited to: clean-up, weeding, landscaping, mowing, weed whacking, leveling, raking, and shoveling. The scope of work is vast, but volunteers can plan on outdoor landscaping work, clean-up and physical labor.
Apparel & Equipment: volunteers should bring jeans/work pants, shoes/boots, shirt (short or long sleeve) that they are OK with getting dirty. UNI provides tools, water, gloves, sunscreen, and safety glasses. Volunteers may bring coffee, snacks, lunch, and other accessories as they wish.
Capacity: UNI can host as many as 100 volunteers, and volunteer groups must have atleast five volunteers!
Registered volunteers will receive an email notifying them that the event will be rescheduled.
