About: The Best Buddies Leadership Conference (BBLC), hosted at Indiana University, brings together leaders with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities from middle schools, high schools, colleges, and communities worldwide, providing chapter leaders and ambassadors personalized training that develops the leadership skills needed to organize a Best Buddies chapter and share the Best Buddies mission.
Conference Volunteers are individuals who are at least 18 years of age and no longer a high school student. Conference volunteers assist with a variety of logistical, training, and conference support needs throughout the weekend.
Many Volunteer positions are available in Bloomington and Indianapolis in shifts ranging from 2 -8 hours in length, some shifts are needed at the Indianapolis International Airport.
Especially needed are over 120 Speech Coaches who will spend all day Saturday and Sunday on the Bloomington campus working one-to-one with a Buddy Ambassador. Coaches will assist their Ambassador with writing, editing, and practicing his/her Advocacy speech. Experience in public speaking is not required. The facilitators will lead the group through the entire process.

Best Buddies achieves its mission by matching volunteers with intellectual disabilities with non-disabled peer volunteers into mutually-enriching social friendships. In Indiana, there are over 100 chapters building one-to-one friendships in middle schools, high schools, colleges, communities and corporations. In addition, Best Buddies Jobs secures integrated employment for people with IDD in the Indianapolis area, and Best Buddies offers leadership development empowering people with and without IDD to become leaders, public speakers and advocates.
