Thank you for your interest in Jacob’s Heart’s Heart on Wheels program. Jacob’s Heart provides transportation to and from medical appointments for children undergoing intensive cancer treatment and do not have a safe, reliable vehicle. A well-trained driver (YOU!) picks up the family from their home in a clean and safe Jacob’s Heart van and drives the child, parent(s) and sibling(s) to the hospital, accompanying and guiding the family through the maze of the hospital when needed. Beyond providing door-to-door transportation, a Heart on Wheels ride removes a great source of stress for the parents, allowing them to focus on the care of their child and on making other important phone calls and arrangements. During those long hospital days, our drivers are available to spend time with the families, engage the child’s siblings, and retrieve food or comfort items for them while they wait. Jacob's Heart drivers get to know the families well and become a source of comfort, fun, and companionship that the families come to trust and rely on.

Description
Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Support Services has been supporting children with cancer and their families since 1998. We believe that no family should experience childhood cancer alone. We support the entire family. To some families, this may mean a teddy bear and quilt to the child in the hospital, financial assistance to the parents to get to and from the hospital, art therapy for children with cancer to assist during the healing process, and counseling and support groups to children, teens, siblings and parents.
We celebrate and mourn the lives of Jacob's Heart children. We send cards and gifts on special occasions such as birthdays, graduations and, yes, weddings. Once a Jacob's Heart kids, always a Jacob's Heart kid. We support the family when a child loses life to cancer. We are there for the family when the child is first diagnosed, during his/her treatment, during follow-up when they return home, and for bereaved families.
Please join us and support our brave children and loving families during the most challenging times of their lives. And, celebrate the lives of these precious ones!
