The Arnold P. Gold Foundation is seeking a volunteer to work one day a week (or more) in our office in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. This position is ideal for someone who has already completed their bachelor’s degree and is in a "gap year" before attending medical school or another graduate program.
Volunteering at the Gold Foundation will introduce you to the world of nonprofits through a wide variety of tasks. You will have the opportunity to work with several different departments; interact with Board members, healthcare leaders and donors; aid development in prospect research and appeal letters; assist with programmatic activities, including distributing awards and organizing grants; support communications and marketing efforts through social media; and much more. Specific tasks and assignments are based on each volunteer’s interests and skills.

The Arnold P. Gold Foundation 's mission is to perpetuate the tradition of the caring doctor by emphasizing the importance of the relationship between the practitioner and the patient. Our objective is to help physicians-in-training unite the old and the new, becoming doctors who combine the high tech skills of cutting edge medical science and technology with the high touch skills of communication, empathy and compassion.
Description
The Gold Foundation is dedicated to keeping the CARE in healthcare, so that patients are at the center of every healthcare interaction. To that end, the Foundation has been advocating for care that is as respectful and considerate of a patient’s physical and emotional well being as it is sophisticated in its technology. In our work to re-balance the art and science of medicine, we have launched a series of initiatives designed to set expectations, provide role models and curricula experiences to ensure that physicians remain steadfast in their commitment to deliver this model of compassionate patient care. One of our main objectives is to bring the patient’s perspective and experience into medical education - to bring the voice of the patient to the ear of the doctor.
The Gold Foundation creates and supports national programs for which schools, teaching hospitals and other appropriate institutions may apply. We also provide funding for innovative projects proposed by students, residents and faculty.
