SourceAmerica Volunteer Program for Productivity Engineers

SourceAmerica is pleased to announce a volunteer program for productivity engineers providing engineering assistance to nonprofit agencies (NPAs) participating in the AbilityOne Program. Volunteers will serve to improve the productivity of individuals with significant disabilities and to increase the inclusion of those unable to find employment because of the severity of their disabilities.

SourceAmerica volunteers work to provide engineering assistance directly to associated NPAs in the form of innovations and suggestions to provide access and better productivity for AbilityOne jobs. Assistance will be primarily through the promotion, design, and use of assistive technology and other appropriate means.

If you are a professional in rehabilitation, productivity engineering/management, or related fields, or you have a unique skill set that could contribute to SourceAmerica’s mission, we invite and encourage you apply! SourceAmerica’s volunteer program provides an opportunity to share your innovation and passion with a dedicated workforce to promote inclusion and productivity in the disability community.

SourceAmerica volunteers serve to:

1. Innovate and distribute workplace adaptations for a variety of job categories
2. Promote the use of all appropriate measures to enhance the productivity of AbilityOne employees and maximize the inclusion of those with the most significant disabilities
3. Assist in the development of research in the rehabilitation industry
4. Develop resources and training materials
5. Support operations and project management

Established in 1974, SourceAmerica is one of two national, nonprofit agencies designated by the US AbilityOne Commission (a federal government agency) to support community-based nonprofit agencies (NPAs) participating in the AbilityOne Program which provides employment opportunities for people who are blind or have other significant disabilities by procuring Federal contracts for goods and services.

Headquartered in Vienna, VA., SourceAmerica supports a network of more than 1,300 NPAs as well as Federal customers by providing the legislative and regulatory assistance, communications and public relations materials, information technology support, engineering and technical assistance, and extensive professional training needed for successful contract management.
