A student who is new to math class needs a hand with arithmetic, decimals, fractions, and how to use a calculator. She also has a visual impairment. So, the 1:1 help would give her a good boost in keeping up with the class.

Mission Statement

Help adults acquire the skills, and provide the support, to pursue education and employment goals.

Description

Minneapolis Adult Education provides free classes in ESL, reading, writing, math, basic computer skills, and transition to work and college. Classes are available in the morning, afternoon, and evening. We are part of Minneapolis Community Education, Minneapolis Public Schools.

Volunteers participate once an week, for an hour or more depending on the class. We ask for a commitment of 3 months. Service learning has a different minimum.
