Recruiter for Young Activists and Reporters
ORGANIZATION: WhoWhatWhy
Please visit the new page to apply.
The reason why the words of Parkland’s student activists are so much more powerful than the florid rhetoric of any politician is that they come from the heart. These teenage survivors of the country’s most recent mass shooting have seen firsthand what gun violence looks like; their voices are unswayed by campaign contributions, consultants and focus groups.
We believe that this authenticity has been lacking from the debate.
That’s why we here at WhoWhatWhy, a daring, nonpartisan news organization, are creating a series called "Emerging Voices." It will explore the stories and voices of students who have lost friends, teachers and their innocence to gun violence.
We believe that it takes young people to connect with young people, and that’s why we are looking for *you*, a millennial who wants to make a difference.
Working with our team, you would help coordinate the outreach to millennials affected by gun violence (and, down the road, other issues important to young people) to make sure they continue to take part of this debate.
If you have an outgoing personality, are well-spoken and a good writer with journalism experience, we’d like to hear from you. This is part-time work that can be done on your own schedule, though much of the work would need to start immediately. This is a great opportunity to develop skills in editorial project management, under tutelage of esteemed reporters and editors.
To apply, please send your resume and a customized cover letter that shows you have studied our brand and explains why you are qualified for this position. Make clear you understand the fundamentally pro bono aspect and are not mass-applying.
