MANDATORY TRAINING SUNDAY, JUNE 17th @ 3:30pm
Ability 360 Aquatic Center
5301 E Washington St
Phoenix, AZ 85034
Volunteers must be 16 or older. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Volunteers must be comfortable in the water. NO SKILL REQUIREMENT.
No prior experience with people with disabilities necessary.
iCan Swim camp teaches kids and adults with disabilities (ages 3+) about pool and water safety and teaches them how to swim. The program is customized for each swimmer's abilities including introduction to water, beginning swimming lessons and skill refinement for competitive teams like Special Olympics.
You will be assigned to work with a swimmer each day of the program as they lean basic skills in the water such as entry, exit, breathing, floating, strokes, kicking and body position. You will provide encouragement and physical support as needed.
Plan to arrive 15 min early each day for a volunteer meeting. Bring a swimsuit and towel each day. Volunteers will be active for 45-60 min per session so please keep this in mind when volunteering for multiple sessions.

You can sign up for 1 or more sessions per day. We ask that volunteers commit to attending all 5 days of camp for the session(s) that you select. Please indicate if there is a day that you will not be able to attend.
Session 1: 9 - 9:45am
Session 2: 10:15 - 11am
Session 3: 11:30 - 12:30pm
Session 4: 1:45 - 2:45pm
Session 5: 3:15 - 4:15pm
Remember, swimmers rely on your attendance! We must have at least 1 volunteer per swimmer at camp. They are relying on you being at the sessions you sign up for!
